Thinking of using influencers, but don't know where to start? Following these steps will make things a whole lot easier :)
Are you ready to create the perfect influencer marketing campaign? Well, you better buckle up… you’re in for a ride!
Step one: identify your target audience. Think about who would be the perfect fit for your brand. Are you selling vegan protein bars? Then you probably don't want to work with a carnivorous influencer, their audience won’t be interested. It's all about finding the right match and working with influencers capable of reaching your target audience.
Step two: research potential influencers. Don't just Google "influencers" and call it a day. You need to dig deeper to find the best influencers for your campaign. Look for influencers who have a relevant following and consistently strong engagement. Your influencers should have values that align with your brand.
Step three: establish a budget. It's important to set a budget for your campaign, but don't forget to leave a little wiggle room for unexpected expenses. Maybe your influencer needs a gold-plated microphone or a personal confetti cannon for their posts. You never know with influencers these days….
Step four: develop a creative brief. This is where you get to flex your creative muscles and come up with a killer concept for your campaign. Just remember, it's not a competition to see who can come up with the most buzzwords or industry jargon. Keep it simple and memorable. The average “dwell-time” per social media post is only 8 seconds!! So content needs to automatically capture and captivate.
Step five: build relationships with your influencers. Nurture them as best you can. It's like making new friends, but with a business purpose. Take the time to get to know your influencers, the style of content they usually create, understand their audience and what their audience loves from their influencer, and collaborate on messaging and creative assets that work for everyone.
Step six: track and measure your results. It's important to know if your campaign is actually working. Keep track of the metrics that matter to you, like engagement, reach, conversions and ROI. As your activity delivers, identify the things that work and don’t work, then make adjustments to optimise performance. This could mean concentrating posts to go live on select days or times. Or changing a promotion or incentive offer. Maybe you can test new tag lines or message strategies. Whatever it may be, just don’t set and forget your influencer activity.
Step seven: follow up with your influencers. A way you can improve future campaigns is by sending influencers post-campaign surveys for feedback and insights. Just don't ghost them after the campaign is over. Send them a thank you message, a virtual high five, or even a personalised llama gif. It's all about building long-term relationships.
By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to creating the perfect influencer marketing campaign. So go forth, be creative, bold, and remember to have fun along the way :)
